"Typewriter Journal?" An Entry
One analog writer wants to have his cake and eat it, too with typewritten journal entries.
And then I tried it out.
Conclusion:
I dig it and will probably do it every so often.
It’s definitely not going to replace handwriting. But it’s nice knowing the option exists.
How I do it:
First off, I am a big fan of typing on a half sheet of paper. I take one standard piece of paper (usually the back of junk mail or other scratch paper if I have some) and fold it “hamburger style” and feed it through my typewriter with the fold to the left, adjusting the margins settings.
Once finished, I slice out the entry with a utility knife (in my case, my prized Olfa), though I imagine scissors would work fine. If you use a utility knife, you’ll need to cut against a backing mat or some scrap board you don’t mind slicing up.
I hit the back with a standard glue stick and throw it in the journal. I have grown to enjoy using simple graph paper journals even more dotted journals.
I like to initial most typewritten works to add evidence of human touch.
How do you like to journal, work out your thoughts, capture ideas, or speak to your various layers?
